A new course record was set at the ever-popular Dirt Half Challenge on Saturday 15th November. Craig Palmer of Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers won the race in a time of 1:18:57, followed by Jamie Farmer of Redway Runners in 1:19:48. Nicola Sykes of Bournville Harriers was in third position and also First Lady in 1:20:12. Second and third females were Jess Gray, Watford Joggers in 1:27:37 and Anna Ward of St Albans Striders in 1:31:58. Third Male was Jordan Clay of Leighton Buzzard AC in 1:20:22
As usual everyone loved the event and feedback on facebook and Runners World was better than ever this year. Weather conditions were still, cloudy and mild, which gave the opportunity for many course personal best times and a new course record.
“The field was faster than ever this year,” said Race Director Andrew Hully. “But runners of all levels enjoyed the scenic and challenging course, following the canal towpath and ascending into the beautiful woodlands at Rushmere Country Park. The event becomes more popular each year and we sell out months before race day.”
The team prize this year went to Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers, full results of all age categories can be found on the event website www.dirtrunning.co.uk
